A friendly free-of charge home delivery service of stoma supplies was set up in 1988 by SecuriCare as a service available to all ostomists. All makes and brands of supplies are delivered direct to your home, a convenient and discreet way of obtaining your supplies - no need to queue in busy pharmacies and no bulky packets to carry home.

This nationwide service is approved by the Bucks Health Authority. The dispensing fee paid by the government for all prescriptions is used to fund SecuriCare's stoma care nurses, who provide a very valuable service to areas of the country that have no NHS nurse.

Patient Support and Quality of Care

As part of an holistic programme of care, stoma care sisters actively listen to patients, explain and discuss care and treatment, and help them to make informed decisions.

	Patients with a new stoma are visited at home within 3-5 days of discharge and further visits made as necessary .
	Stoma patients in Residential and Nursing Homes are visited as appropriate and teaching of staff undertaken.
	Any stoma patients not previously known to the stoma care sisters can be assessed for physical or psychological concerns.
	Walk-in, nurse-led community stoma clinics are held regularly.
	Stoma care is always available - locum support is provided during holidays and sickness, etc.
	SecuriCare stoma care sisters liaise directly with GPs and Consultants and can quickly refer stoma patients in the community back to the Consultant if problems arise.
	For patients with complex needs the sisters work together with the district nursing team sharing skills and expertise and formulating a care plan.
